Quilon
Quilon (also called Kollam) is situated in the southwest corner of India in the state of Kerala. The name Kollam is believed to have been derived from the Sanskrit word Kollam, which means pepper.
Kollam is a major business and commercial centre in the central Travancore region of Kerala and for years it was the major commercial hub of Roman, Arab, Chinese and later Portuguese, Dutch and British.
The city centre is chaotic, but outside, the Ashtamudi Lake, palms, cashew plantations and traditional villages give to Kollam a unique atmosphere. Every day, in Kollam, there is the possibility to experience the various houseboat cruise packages throughout the Ashtamudi Lake which lead to Alleppey and Kochi.
