Situated in the far west of George Gill Range, it is located about halfway between Alice Springs and Ayers Rock. You will admire steep walls of red stone, generated over milion years of erosion, dominating a thick palm forest. This is also an important natural reserve, where over 600 species of Australian endemic animals and plants live, often exclusive of the area. After the initial climb, quite a difficult one, the route along the canyon rim, "Kings Canyon Rim Walk" is about 6 km long, lasting about 3-4 hours. The walk offers spectacular views on the gorges underneath and the surrounding landscapes.
At the bottom of the canyon lies the Eden Garden, a permanent natural pool surrounded by lush vegetation. For the least trained, Kings Creek Walk, shorter and easier at the base of the canyon, leads through lush ferns and eucaliptus to a platform where you can admire the steep rocky walls of the canyon above.
