Valsassina tour sorrounded by landscapes and traditions starting from Como

Meeting in Como at 09:30 and departure for Valsassina by minibus/private car.

Valsassina is a famous Lombard valley in the area of Lecco.

It is situated between Valtellina and the group of Mount Grigna and it is crossed by the Pioverna stream.

All the valley is characterized by huge meadows which join the landscape of the Alps peaks.

Valsassina is rich of history and culture, indeed, there are a lot of marks of its glorious past in traditional culinary art, characterized by simple and genuine flavors.

Arrival in Pasturo at 10:30 and visit to Mauri cheese factory, a factory surrounded by luxuriant nature at the foot of the Mount Grigna, which is characterized by a unique microclimate ideal for alpine pasture and cheese production.

At the end of the visit, product tasting and opportunity of somo shopping.

At 12:00 continuance to Cortabbio (district of Primaluna) and lunch in a typical agritourism (Le Tre Casine/ le Trote Blu) with local agricultural products.

During every season the agritourism offers various and unique experiences of fragrances, flavors and colors and a cuisine which finds its origins in the ancient mountain traditions while innovating them with a large variety of fruits, vegetables and spices, a perfect mix of cheese and local products.

After lunch, opportunity for a walk enjoying the landscape.

In the afternoon, optional visit to the Cortabbio mines. You can follow an internal itinerary, where machineries and excavating manners will be shown, highlighting the structural and aesthetic peculiarities of mine rock or an external itinerary, where the ruins of the station of the cableway of Vittoria mine will be visited. You will reach the most ancient mines, where you can observe a deep ravine originated during the first open-air diggings. During the visit, the ancient ways of digging and transport of the valley materials will be explained.

At 3:00 PM departure for Cainallo, a famous locality situated in a basin to the north mount Grigna slope, situated in Esino Lario.

Short stop to take a picture of the landscape and continuation through the street arriving IN Esino Lario, beloved for its panorama on Como lake and Orobie mountains. From Esino departure for Perledo, crossing the street along Como Lake until the arrival at Varenna al 4:30 PM.

Short stop for visiting this amazing fishermen village and departure for Como. Arrival estimated at 6:00 PM.
