Treasures of Sri Lanka

Arrival in Colombo in the morning: transfer to the hotel in Habarana (about 4 hours and a half) and accommodation in the reserved rooms. In the afternoon, compatibly with the time of arrival, possibility to participate in a jeep safari in the Minneriya Park (or Kaudulla or Eco Park, depending on the period).

Morning dedicated to visiting the imposing fortress of Sigiriya (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO), built on the rock in the fifth century and about 370 meters high (the climb will take a couple of hours or so, because there are more than a thousand steps!). In the afternoon, visit of Polonnaruwa (also declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO), the second ancient capital of the Sinhalese kingdom between the 11th and 13th centuries AD, whose temples and sculptures are among the best preserved in the country.

In the morning with a short "craft" catamaran ride on Lake Kandalama you will reach a point where one or two elephants (belonging to a private "Elephant compound" located nearby, open exclusively for Mistral customers) bathe together with their "mahouts": following the instructions of the mahouts it will be possible to participate in first person to the exciting experience of the bath, playing with the elephants in the water and rewarding them in the end with delicious fruit!

You will then return to the main road using another typical and original means of transport, the tractor, and from there you will continue by car to Kandy; on the road, visit the beautiful temples carved into the caves at Dambulla (the temples are on the top of a hill, the climb requires 30 ' around) and a spice plantation in Matale.

In the afternoon, visit Kandy, the most sacred city of Sri Lanka, as well as the third capital of the Sinhalese kingdom: the Temple of the Sacred Tooth (Dalada Maligawa), the lake, the market square.

In the morning, return to Colombo. Upon arrival in Colombo, panoramic tour of the capital (Residential and commercial areas, Pettah bazaar, Government Palace...) and time for a little shopping in the charming complex of the recently renovated Dutch Hospital. Then transfer to the hotel near the airport and dinner. No overnight stay. After dinner, transfer to the airport and board the night flight back to the home land.
